The Thackeray Estate, a leading property development and investment business, is delighted to announce it has been granted planning permission to restore and develop the Castle Club, a Grade II listed building in the heart of Fulham, into a state-of-the-art care home. The Company has a proven track record of regenerating sites – often rich in heritage – into high quality mixed-use spaces and is pleased to be given the opportunity to restore the Castle Club to its former glory.
Currently, the demand for care homes in central locations remains largely unmet, with the majority of facilities located in bland modern developments outside of London. Whilst distinctive, historic buildings like the Castle Club are traditionally reserved for high-end residential purposes, The Thackeray Estate believes that the unique character of the Castle Club offers the ideal opportunity to create a state-of-the-art facility where senior residents will benefit from full-time care in a prime location.
The Thackeray Estate will restore and redevelop the Gothic style former school and include a three storey glazed extension. The building benefits from being located moments from the green spaces of Hurlingham Park for residents to enjoy and will consist of 33 bedrooms and modern facilities, providing a home for the elderly when they reach a stage of needing 24-hour nursing care.
