Afternoon tea experience for Gravesend residents

A restaurant experience with a special afternoon tea on the menu was the icing on the cake for Edward Moore House Residential Care Home residents.

With many of the home’s residents unable to easily get out and about, thoughtful staff of the Gravesend care home decided to host a very special afternoon tea experience at the Trinity Road home for the residents and their loves ones.

With the dining room transformed into a restaurant and the finest china in use, cake stands were filled with finger sandwiches, scones and dainty cakes, before being brought out to the hungry guests.

The experience was a great success, enabling residents and their families to share some real quality time together, in the comfort and safety of the home, with staff on hand to provide support, if needed.

Melanie Martin, Deputy Manager at Edward Moore House said: “Afternoon tea is a really big thing nowadays but for our residents, it’s not always easy for them to go out with their relatives, because of the care they require, transport etc. so we decided to host our own afternoon tea within the home.

“It was a great success, and everyone had a lovely time, the feedback was that it was a really special afternoon. We are already planning another one for Christmas!”
