Sutton Coldfield care home partners with Age Concern to tackle loneliness

Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield on Jockey Road is launching a new initiative in partnership with the local Age Concern Birmingham, aimed at tackling loneliness amongst the elderly in the local community.

As part of the compassionate initiative and with the support of Age Concern, Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield will once a month be inviting a member of the local community who is looking for companionship, to join residents and the team at the home for a delicious lunch, free of charge.

The home is celebrating Armed Forces Day on Saturday 30th June, which will also mark the launch of the initiative, with two members of the local community being invited to enjoy a lunch, followed by musical entertainment. The event will provide the guests with a special opportunity to socialise with the team and residents, and to enjoy a fun-packed day at the home.

Jody Sedgwick, Home Admissions Advisor at Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield, said:

“We are delighted to be joining together with Age Concern to run this new initiative, which will help those in our shared local community to feel more connected and engaged. Both Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield and Age Concern Birmingham already do so much to ensure we are reaching the people in our community who need it most – so we are delighted to be welcoming more people from the local area into our home to enjoy a lovely afternoon of companionship.”

Becky Bews, Chief Executive, Age Concern Birmingham (Bold mere), said:

“Thank you to Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield for supporting Age Concern Birmingham.  It’s great to be working in partnership with Gracewell to tackle loneliness amongst the elderly in our local community as it’s so important that organisations do work together and support each other for the benefit older people. We are looking forward to the garden party, meeting new people and sharing information on our services and the work we are doing locally.”
