Mountwood care home in Andover celebrated the 100th birthday of one of its residents with a special event for her family and friends.
Vicky Aldridge was joined by her daughter Gill McGarry, who made the trip from Cornwall to see her mother on the big day, and her younger sister Rene, 97. Vicky has two children, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and six great, great grandchildren. She also has two other siblings, Grace, 96 and Ted, 90.
Vicky married Norman Aldridge when she was 21, and the couple received a telegram from The Queen when they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed socialising and ballroom dancing at the British Legion club. Sadly, Norman passed away aged 89.
Vicky has been a resident at Mountwood since 2015, and enjoys watching the BBC with her friends and eating dark chocolate.
Sharon Daley, Home Manager at Mountwood, said: “Vicky is a popular resident, and it was lovely to be joined by members of her family to celebrate her big day.
“It is important to us that residents get to mark their special days, and invite their friends and family to attend where possible. Everyone at Mountwood had a lovely time at Vicky’s party. We’re looking forward to her 101st birthday next year.”
Vicky’s daughter Gill said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Mountwood for organising the lovely party for my Mum. The staff have taken excellent care of her over the past three years, and she had a great time celebrating with us all today.”
