Residents, family members and friends enjoyed strawberries and cream with a glass of bubbly at the Chirk Court Care Home in Chirk last Friday.
Chirk Court staff at the Strawberry and bubbly social event, Housekeepers Yvonne Price and Bev Valentine with Julie Roberts, Cook.The event was supported by many from the wider community in Chirk including members of Chirk Town Council who presented the care home with a £500 discretionary grant which will pay for an iPad to use in the home’s Reminiscence and Music activities.
Care Home Manager Lisa Johnson said: “Some of the Councillors had attended a recent Open Day when we happened to mention we were hoping to buy an iPad to build on the brilliant eight-week Age Cymru cARTrefu Arts Project and they suggested we make an application for funding towards the costs.
“On behalf of all our residents and their families I’d like to say how sincerely grateful we are for all the support we have received from the council and say that the money will have a positive impact, providing additional dedicated resources within the care home.”
Mandi Southern, Activities Coordinator at Chirk Court added that the event was also attended by Miss Galaxy Wales, Lauren Parkinson, who lives locally and often calls in to chat with residents and support their activities.

It was just lovely to realise the warmth and support that there is for the residents here and their families.”
