Residents from three care homes were treated to a VIP musical ‘premiere’ at Ringwood Parish Church.
Staff and residents from Colten Care’s Fernhill in Ferndown, The Aldbury in Poole and Brook View in West Moors, were invited to attend the dress rehearsal of the superb Aurum Vocale concert, ahead of the public performance on the same evening (May 6).
Colten Care, which arranged the trip, also laid on champagne, strawberries and cream.
The audience then listened enraptured as performers from well-known ensembles including The Gabrieli Consort, The Monteverdi Choir and The BBC Singers performed works by Byrd, Tallis, Vaughan-Williams and Britten.
Karen Grant A’Court, an activity organiser at the dedicated dementia home, Fernhill, said:
“Sitting in the church listening to all those beautiful voices was an absolute treat for us all and many people who attended are still talking about it.
“Our residents adore music, especially when it is sung live and they often respond very emotionally to it. To be given the opportunity to hear the singers perform before anyone else was a real privilege.”
The Aurum Vocale concert was promoted by The Friends of Ringwood Parish Church and supported by Colten Care.
