Bury St Edmunds care home builds community links with young students

Fornham House care home in Fornham St Martin, near Bury St Edmunds, has enjoyed an afternoon of music with local students.

A group of year 11 students from Culford School visited the home this Wednesday, 10th May, to spend the afternoon singing and chatting with the residents.

The visit is part of an ongoing project with the school which sees them regularly visit to take part in a range of activities with residents and to spend time socialising.

The home, which is part of the Healthcare Homes Group, provides residential care for up to 73 residents and runs a full and varied activities programme, building links with the local community and creating innovative ways to provide fun and enjoyable events for residents.

Home Manager Irina Catanescu said; “This week’s visit from the students was wonderful.  Our residents really enjoy the time they spend with them.  They all had a great time singing and chatting to one another, hearing about each other’s lives.

“It’s very important to us to build links with community groups such as the school and to welcome people into the home to learn about life at Fornham House and to meet our residents. We are very grateful to the school and the students for the time they spend at the home and look forward to continuing the project throughout the year.”
