Alderlea care home will provide visitors with sessions of gentle exercise classes for older people and those with dementia, as well as expert advice on care and nutrition on Thursday March 23 from 10am-4pm.
Visitors to Alderlea, which is operated by Hica Group, will also have the opportunity to look around its communal areas and show bedrooms while enjoying refreshments provided by the home.
Alderlea manager Vicky Baker, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming the community to Alderlea and showcasing our excellent activity programmes.
“By using our expertise and knowledge we want to provide the community with support on how to care for older people. We are show casing OOMPH! wellness sessions for young or older visitors to enjoy, and samples of the nutritious meals we provide across the group will be on offer.
“We strongly believe that activities like the OOMPH! sessions support physical and psychological health and wellbeing of older people. It is important that the people who we support spend their time as they choose, so we have two dedicated activity and wellbeing leads that support people to take part in person centred activities, rekindling old past times and creating opportunities to try new things.”
The exercise sessions available at the open day are designed by OOMPH! the UK’s largest provider of activities and exercise training to the care sector. Staff across Hica Group homes have been trained in the specialist exercise sessions which are designed to support quality of life and wellbeing for older people and those with a disability.
