The owners of a popular Malvern care home have appointed a new manager who is set to introduce fresh ideas to enhance its quality of care and keep residents active.
Maria Willis, who has 17 years’ experience in the care and medical sector, has joined Welland House Care Centre as its new manager where she is working to build on the home’s reputation for looking after people with a range of care needs.
Maria has wasted little time in stamping her mark on the Lime Grove home as she develops a programme to keep residents fit, healthy and active.
She said: “To have the opportunity to manage the home and our fantastic team is a really proud moment for me.
“The team has worked hard over the years to keep a constant high level of care but I hope that I can introduce new ideas which makes Welland House an even more special place to live.
“I am keen to bring a lot of positive changes this year – including improvements to our entertainment programme, promoting the benefits of being outdoors, trips out and most importantly, trying to improve the already high levels of care we offer.
“For example, we have such beautiful gardens and with Spring on the way, we want to ensure residents can enjoy it, help care for our grounds and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells. Something which is especially important for our residents who suffer from dementia.
“I can’t wait to get going and everyone has been very supportive.”
Welland House is registered with the Care Quality Commission for 51 residents and takes private residents as well as those referred by local authorities. All its nurses are fully qualified and they employ a total of 53 staff.
Welland House Care Centre is part of the Worcestershire-based Redwood Healthcare group.
