kingdom-homes-care-industry-newsPreston House Nursing Home in Glenrothes, Fife was delighted to host a birthday party for a very special lady who celebrated her 106th birthday last month. Euphemia Mitchell, or “Phemi” as she is known was born on 20th October 1910. Around 30 family and friends were invited to Preston House where they enjoyed a lovely buffet prepared by Preston House Head Chef, John McCabe. John also baked a birthday cake for Phemie who has been a resident in the care home for nearly 3 years. Prior to this she lived independently in her own home. Even when she had passed the age of 100 Phemi liked to walk to the shops from her home to buy her groceries.

In the year she was born King Edward VII died and was succeeded by King George V, Dr Crippen was hanged for murdering his wife and Old Trafford football stadium was opened. Phemi is photographed here with her son Johnson who travelled with his wife from his home in Milton Keynes for his mum’s birthday. Also in the photograph is Andrew Heath, Manager of Preston House.
