Clarissa Leech, a resident of Parklands care home in Poynton, Macclesfield, celebrated turning 100 with a 1940s-style birthday party organised by staff at the CLS-run home.
Clarissa, who described reaching 100 as one of her greatest achievements, celebrated her milestone surrounded by well-wishers at the home. During the day, Clarissa was presented with birthday presents, bouquets of flowers, and a special card from the Queen congratulating her on hitting a century.
Partygoers enjoyed a buffet tea with birthday cake and sandwiches before having a dance and sing-along with a 1940s entertainer to a number of wartime classics.
Born and raised in London, Clarissa worked as a dressmaker on Oxford Street in her youth. A talented seamstress, Clarissa’s hobbies include dressmaking and knitting. Clarissa commented that she feels ‘marvellous’ about reaching 100, and when asked about the secret to long life, she replied: “There is no secret, just luck.”
