idealCarehomesThe Mayor of Gedling officially reopened Coppice Lodge in Arnold this week, after the home has recently undergone a series of exciting renovations.  Councillor Sandra Barnes chose to visit Coppice Lodge as one of her first official engagements as Mayor and was overwhelmed by the impressive facilities the home has to offer.

Councillor Barnes cut the ribbon outside the doors of Coppice Lodge and announced the home as officially open.  She was treated to a tour of the facilities and stopped for refreshments and a chat with staff and residents.  She said “It is a pleasure to be invited to officially reopen Coppice Lodge.  The facilities at the home are second to none and it was great to meet with the people who live there, and are obviously enjoying the active lifestyle that the home provides.  I will certainly visit again to sample some more of the delicious cakes from the coffee shop!”

Many local care professionals also attended the event and were bowled over by the brand new café area in reception, which is already turning out to be the social hub of the home.  They were delighted to see the authentic pub complete with piano and gave the innovative reminiscence room, which is styled as a 1950’s living room, their stamp of approval.

Home Manager, Samantha Kavanagh, explained how thrilled she is with the renovations at the home.  She said “Coppice Lodge really is a great place to live.  The residents are already enjoying using the café area as a lovely place to welcome their family and friends.  We also have a brand new activity room, plus a cinema room with popcorn machine.  There is so much to do at Coppice Lodge, and along with fantastic trips out, our residents are spoilt for choice!  It really is a pleasure to show visitors round our beautiful home.”

The home also held a public open day where staff were proud to show local people round the new facilities, after all their hard work in putting the finishing touches to the home.  Visitors enjoyed hot drinks and home-made cakes in the café area, while local musicians entertained them with songs from times gone by.  Guests mingled with current residents, enjoying a dance and a glass of sherry and everyone had a smile on their face!

Coppice Lodge, which is operated by Ideal Carehomes, offers 24 hour residential and dementia care with highly trained staff who assist residents to remain independent.  Breaking down the pre-conceived perceptions of care home life, their residents enjoy an active social environment with events, trips and daily activities on offer.
