Tenants at Watling Court Extra Care Housing Scheme in Gravesend got into the spirit of National Pie Week by tucking into some classic British favourites.
Watling Court tenants never miss out on a special event and National Pie Week, which took place this week, was no different. The annual celebratory event takes place from 7th-13th March and sees pie lovers across the country honouring the staple British dinner.
On Thursday 10th March, tenants of the Ifield Way housing scheme got together in the dining room to enjoy an old classic favourite for lunch. Accompanied by mashed potato, roasted vegetables and gravy, the tenants were given the choice of steak or chicken and bacon pie, followed by a tasty Victoria Sponge for pudding.
The tenants thoroughly enjoyed their scrumptious pies and spent the afternoon nattering to one another about their signature recipes and pies they’d make for their families.
Helen Goulding, scheme manager of Watling Court commented: “We are always looking for innovative activities and things to celebrate here at Watling Court and as our tenants are really into their food, taking part in National Pie Week seemed a great idea!
“Lunch time is a really sociable occasion here at Watling Court, the tenants loved tucking into their pies and having a chat.”
