Life-long Sunderland resident Winnie Muckles celebrated her 90th birthday in style with a day of beauty and tea party for all her friends and family at Barnes Court Care Home, High Barnes, where she now lives.
Winnie’s grandson Brian wanted to do something special for her ninetieth birthday so Activities Coordinator Julie Haram arranged for a hairdresser and beautician to visit and get her ready for her big day.
The birthday celebrations got off to a great start with a pampering day in the home’s salon. After having her hair done, Winnie enjoyed some special treatments including a hand massage, hot mitts and manicure.
After enjoying her day of beauty, Winnie was joined by family, friends and fellow residents of Barnes Court for a tea party featuring live music from singer Ernie Haynes.
Born one of eleven siblings, Winnie grew up in Pallion before meeting and marrying husband Ernie and raising three children of her own. A well known member of the local community, she did a lot of community and voluntary work in her younger years before moving into Barnes Court where she quickly became a popular member of the home.
Julie Haram, Activities Coordinator at Barnes Court, Said: “It was a wonderful day for everyone involved. Winnie is such a lovely lady, it was fantastic to see her enjoying her day of beauty, and the party was a lovely way for us all to celebrate her birthday with her.”
