92-year-old Jessie Hall from Hanover Court in Haxby has enjoyed her first trombone lesson on her 93rd birthday. Her birthday was celebrated during a special event to mark the completion of a major refurbishment project on Tuesday 25 August.
Residents were joined by Cllr Sonja Crisp, Lord Mayor of York and other local dignitaries as they celebrate the completion of a £500K refurbishment project at Hanover Court.
The housing development has seen a significant transformation over the last few months. New cladding has enhanced the external look and feel of the development, making the buildings look more attractive.
New windows, doors, and Juliette balconies, together with cladding and insulation, will vastly improve energy efficiency, which in time will save residents a significant amount of money on their heating bills.
In addition, the estate now boasts a new communal lounge and a newly landscaped garden area with seating and raised flower beds.
Hanover Court resident Jessie Hall says: ‘My trombone lesson was a brilliant birthday treat. I am really pleased with the look and feel of our estate thanks to Hanover and its architects who have given it stunning facelift along with a newly landscaped garden area.’
