With an abundance of sand, buckets and spades, it was time for everyone to don their brightest summer attire and enjoy a day at the seaside.
People living at Stocks Hall St Helens have in the past enjoyed trips to seaside resorts like Blackpool, Rhyl and Southport, but with more now finding the journeys a struggle, staff at the Home decided that they didn’t want them to miss out on all the beach fun.
Relatives, visitors and staff were invited to join the people living at the Home to relax in the gardens, all of which had been wonderfully decorated with bunting, seagulls and even an inflatable shark or two!
The scene was set perfectly with mini sand-pits, outdoor garden games and the aroma of freshly cooked fish and chips ready to be served. In addition to the seaside fun there was a chance to pose for a selfie, wearing fun seaside attire and even try the popular seaside game of ‘Hit or Miss’.
Live entertainment and singing of beach themed classics was a fabulous way to end such a special day. Manager Julie Gaskell said:
“As a Care Home we are very forward thinking and are always coming up with different trips and activities to keep things interesting and enjoyable for people living at the Home.”
“It has been a fantastic afternoon and we are delighted to have had such a great turn out, I am so proud of my team for their efforts. The weather might not have been perfect this summer, but that hasn’t dampened the spirits of the staff and people living at Stocks Hall St Helens.”
