Rosetta Goodman recently celebrated her 100th birthday at Jewish Care’s Brenner Community Centre at Raine House in Stamford Hill. Rosetta’s friends from the community centre joined the centenarian for a tea party together with staff and volunteers and received her card from the Queen, together with a cake and flowers to mark the occasion.
Born on 9th June 1915 in Clapton, Rosetta has lived in Hackney all her life and worked for 25 years in fashion as a saleswoman in Richard shops in Holloway Road.
She has visited Jewish Care’s Brenner Community Centre at Raine House every Monday for the past 20 years to enjoy the entertainment and activities and meeting with her friends. Rosetta says, “My happiest memories include holidays in Bournemouth with my sister and going dancing at Saunders Jewish Ballroom in Hackney.”
Asked of her proudest achievement in life, she says, “To live this long!”
