Over 1500 people from the local community enjoyed a fabulous day out in the sunshine on Sunday 21st June at The PAH Family Fun Day at Jewish Care’s Princess Alexandra Home in Stanmore. The day, organised by The Princess Alexandra Home Special Events Committee raised £20,000 this year to help buy vital equipment to enable residents at the home to enjoy meaningful and varied activities.
Families, Jewish Care supporters and people from the local community enjoyed visiting and taking in the fairground atmosphere with dance troupes and school choirs on the entertainment stage throughout the day for everyone to enjoy together. Hundreds of children made the most of the bouncy castles, fun fair rides and go karts and had their face painted in the sunshine.
Speaking after the event, Chair of the Princess Alexandra Home Special Events Committee Brian Eisenberg, who is from Pinner, said,
“I’m absolutely thrilled that the Family Fun Day was such a huge success thanks to the hard work of the dedicated committee, the Hebrew Order of David, other organisations and volunteers, and of course all the people who came along on the day to enjoy themselves and support the charity and residents of Jewish Care’s Princess Alexandra Home.
“The Fun Day has raised more than £120,000 to date and I’m delighted to have raised over £20,000 this year.
“With the support of the home manager, Elizabeth Mandeya, and her wonderful staff team to make sure that the residents took part it was a truly intergenerational day for everyone to enjoy – the staff really look after the residents’ needs in such a positive, respectful way. The children who were performing went into the home to sing and dance for the residents and their families so that everyone could enjoy the entertainment together.
“The money raised will support the home to continue to provide older people with a dignified setting and a place where they can take part in a whole range of meaningful activities to enrich their lives.
Commenting after the event Daniel Carmel-Brown, Director Fundraising and Marketing at Jewish Care said;
“I would like to thank the committee and all the staff at Princess Alexandra Home for a wonderful event. There was a real party atmosphere and it was fantastic to see, as those of all ages came together to raise much needed funds to support the home”.
