MP opens dementia unit at Ramsbottom care home


Lavender Hills Care Home-care industry newsA Lancashire care home officially opened its state-of-the-art unit with local MP Jake Berry attending the special event.


The seven-bed exclusive ‘Porritt Unit’ at Lavender Hills Care Home in Ramsbottom, which is owned by Millennium Care UK, will provide the highest standards of care for people living with dementia.


The new unit is situated within the main building and each of the seven shower en-suite rooms have been specifically designed to an exceptionally high five star standard. The residents will also benefit from a dedicated lounge, dining area and kitchenette, many of which enjoy views across the 12-acre grounds and the Rossendale Valley.


Lavender Hills’ Home Manager, Helen Inman said the official opening of the unit was an enjoyable event, attended by residents, staff, family members and Jake Berry, who is the MP for Rossendale and Darwen.


“The opening of the Porritt Unit today was an important moment for Lavender Hills as a whole,” she said. “As a residential care home with an excellent reputation, we are pleased to be able to provide care for people with  dementia, as well as an effective care pathway for our existing residents.”


The Porritt Unit is so called after the influential Porritt family, who built the magnificent home more than 160 years ago. During the unit’s creation the management team at Lavender Hills Care Home worked closely with specialist interior designers to create a high-end luxury environment.
