Care home residents have a wheelie good time raising money for the NSPCC

SONY DSCTHORNABY care home residents have wheeled their way around Tees Barrage to raise money for the NSPCC.

The sponsored wheelchair push involved residents and relatives from Mandale House care home, on Acklam Road.

“We walked and wheeled three miles, raising more than £100 in aid of the NSPCC,” said Barbara Dewison, activities coordinator at Madale House.

“The weather was rather chilly but the residents enjoyed the fresh air. A huge thank you goes to the family members that pushed a wheelchair.”

The sponsored walk was part of a wider campaign to raise money for the NSPCC by the Hill Care Group, which operates Mandale House.

Barbara added: “We were inspired to organise the walk by Anne Waddicor, the 75 year old mother of Hill Care’s managing director, who walked over 24 miles to raise money for the child protection charity.”
