The 2020 Accolades have been launched at the National Social Care Conference in Cardiff and entries for the awards are now being accepted.
The Accolades are awards that recognise, celebrate and share excellent care in Wales.
Organised by Social Care Wales, the Accolades are a chance for those who work in any form of social care, early years or childcare in the public, independent or voluntary sectors to share their achievements with colleagues across Wales.
For 2020, the Accolades application process has been simplified to make it much easier to enter, and entrants can now submit their entry in writing or as a five-minute video.
The Accolades are looking to celebrate teams, groups and organisations based in Wales that:
- have had a positive effect on people who use social care or early years and childcare
- support staff development
- improve services
- support equality, diversity and language choice.
For the first time, the Accolades have also introduced an award for individual care workers – the WeCare Wales award. This award is open to any paid worker or volunteer in social care, early years or childcare in Wales who makes a difference to people’s lives through the care and support they provide.
Colleagues, employers, people receiving care and support or their carers, family and friends can nominate care workers they would like to see recognised with this award.
Sue Evans, Chief Executive of Social Care Wales, said: “We know there’s excellent practice taking place in social care, early years and childcare in Wales, and we are looking forward to showcasing those achievements once again.
“As well as celebrating high-quality at the awards event, we want to share what our Accolades winners do so well, as part of our role to lead and support improvement in Wales.
“We will work with finalists to make sure their work is shared widely, so that notable practice can be rolled out and people receiving care and support can look forward to even better outcomes.
“In 2018, the Accolades received a record number of entries and we are keen to receive even more for 2020.
“I would urge anyone who works in social work, social care, early years or childcare in Wales to submit their application so their good work can be acknowledged.
“Similarly, if you know of a great service or care worker who deserves to be recognised, please encourage them to enter the Accolades or nominate them for the WeCare Wales award.”
The closing date for entries and nominations is 5pm, 15 November 2019.
