A live-in care provider in Watford organised a sweet summer treat, with a traditional ice cream visit to clients’ homes.

The ice cream van tour, organised by Promedica24, visited residents’ homes where those they care for, as well as care workers, were treated to a free ice cream of their choice.

Residents that were visited by the ice cream van enjoyed the nostalgic van chimes and traditional treats, with many favouring the classic whippy ice cream and flake.

A resident’s son commented: “I hadn’t told mum about the ice cream van visit as I wanted the treat to be a complete surprise.

“The arrival of the ice cream van was a complete and lovely surprise, and mum so enjoyed her ice cream – with a flake as well! Thanks to all at Promedica24 who came up with such a good idea.”

Kerry Matthews, care manager at Promedica24, added: “The ice cream van visit was so successful we are going to be rolling out similar visits across the country. It was lovely to see the enjoyment had by residents and care workers, as well as the engagement from neighbours who came out to speak to them.

“We managed to create a few crowds and had great chats about live-in care and Promedica24.”
