Abbeyfield House in Greenock wins TWO housing awards

Abbeyfield Scotland, the charity which provides support for older people, is celebrating its house in Esplanade, Greenock winning two prestigious National Housing for Older People Awards.

Abbeyfield’s house in Esplanade has won GOLD in the awards for the first time. The house has also won a national UK wide award, they were up against housing providers from the length and breadth of Great Britain.

The prestigious awards are designed to raise the profile of retirement housing throughout the country and encourage people to vote for their favourite residential development. This year nearly 19,000 votes were cast for the 1220 nominated housing development or schemes across the UK.

Carolynn Malone, Service Manager for Abbeyfield Scotland said: “We are thrilled that our house in Greenock has won two of these important awards. Our staff and volunteers at the house are very dedicated and it’s great that the team have been recognised in this way as these awards are highly prized. and are a great accolade for Julie Shaw, Pauline Murray and their Manager Linda Murdoch.”
