A Bristol care home is celebrating 15 years of delivering specialist care for its residents.
Wood House care home in Southmead marked the milestone with a BBQ and celebratory cake. Staff, residents and their family members enjoyed entertainment from local singer, Rebecca Haselhurst. Her rendition of top hits from the 60s and 70s had many guests on their feet dancing.
Special guests included Bristol City Council’s cabinet member for adult social care, Councillor Helen Holland, alongside local ward member, Councillor Brenda Massey. Bristol Care Forum was represented by Morgan Daly.
The celebrations culminated in the presentation of a bouquet of flowers to the home’s longest-residing resident, Wendy McNamara, who moved into Wood House when it opened in February 2004.
Wood House, which is run by Shaw healthcare, provides care for those with complex care needs and challenging behaviour.
The care home’s service manager, Polly Massie, commented: “Everyone has enjoyed a lovely afternoon to mark this special occasion. Recognising such a significant milestone is important, and I would like to pay tribute to the staff who work hard to ensure that we provide the best quality care for all of our residents. Today has been the highlight of everybody’s week at Wood House and we look forward to what the next 15 years bring.”
Shaw healthcare provides a spectrum of services from comprehensive care packages through to low level support in the community for older people and adults with physical, sensory or mental health support needs and those with learning disabilities.
