Clacton home care provider gets a ‘good’ after CQC inspection

The Clacton branch of Manorcourt Homecare, which provides personal care and support to people in supported independent schemes, and in their own homes across the Clacton and Colchester areas, has been rated as ‘good’ for the quality of service it provides.

Part of the Healthcare Homes Group, the Clacton branch of Manorcourt Homecare was inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in February 2018 and has now received this positive rating.

As the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England, the CQC makes sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care.  Inspectors visited the team at the Canters Meadow Court site in Clacton and spent time reviewing the records of people using the service, staff recruitment and training processes and quality monitoring records.

They also spent time with the registered manager, members of the care staff team and people using the homecare and extra care housing services.   The inspectors looked to determine whether the service delivered is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The service was rated as ‘good’ in all five areas.

The aim of the care provision at Manorcourt is to enable service users to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.  As a result, care packages are tailored to individual needs. Inspectors noted this, commenting on the person-centred approach throughout.  They said, “Care records we looked at placed great importance on promoting people’s independence and covered people’s preferences and routines.”

Staff were found to place great importance on this tailored care, with one team member quoted as saying “Everything I do is what they ask me to do and is what they want.” This is reflected in the feedback of service users who told inspectors, “The carers are good. They are conscientious and actually quite meticulous in what they do.”

Branch Manager for Manorcourt Homecare, Clacton, Kathy Taylor said: “I’m so pleased that the hard work of the team here in Clacton has been recognised by inspectors by rating us as ‘good’ in every area. For us, feedback like this, along with that from service users, is so important.  Our work is all about promoting dignity and independence, and we can only do this if we place the utmost importance on what our service users want and need; and do all we can to deliver this.

“We’ll continue to build on this work, making sure our service is relied upon for sensitive, professional and caring support for anyone who needs some help at home.”

The team provides support to community members in the East Anglia and Greater London areas, offering services such as domestic help, dementia care, personal care, respite care, supported living and live-in care.   Each branch of Manorcourt Homecare provides person-centred care and support services that are tailored to individual needs of people requiring in-home care packages.
