It was a golden afternoon on the 22nd June 2018 when the Excelcare & Guildmore annual award winners, guests and colleagues were welcomed into Wonderland by Alice aka Sam Manning and the 3 Mad Hatters – Ozzie, Engin and Sami Ertosun.
Sam Manning, COO Excelcare said ‘Every adventure requires a first step and lucky for us, we have a fabulous team that took the step of compassion and commitment to providing engaging high standards of care and a quality of life to our residents’.
The annual awards are held as a celebration to recognise and value the inspirational team, where staff from carers to maintenance, nurses to chefs, are presented with an award.
This year the theme for the award celebration was Alice in Wonderland held at Braxted Park Estate with 400 guests; many guest came dressed in theme or wearing their hand-made hat in excitement and hope of winning the best-hat competition!
The event kicked off with a ‘Drink Me’ champagne reception where guests were greeted by human hedges. They were then treated to a variety of curious canapés from the Mad March Hare and Tah Dah Cake Lady before joining us for the awards ceremony, where we celebrated all of our award winners.
After the awards ceremony guests were led on a Mad March into the Garden of Wonders by the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts where guests were able to enjoy Mad Hatters BBQ, Tea Cups and Saucers, Flamingo Croquet, Archery, Laser Quest, Tarot and Tea Leaf Readers, Glitter and Face Painting, Alice’s Cocktail and Potions Station, The Queen’s Secret Key Game and of course the Mad Hatter’s Hat Competition!
The hat competition was a wonderland-ful success, judged by the Mad Hatter himself. The winners of the hat competition were Dave Batty (Guildmore) & Shelia Kerr (Excelcare – Essex Region). Thank you to everyone who took part. It was amazing to see the amount of effort and time that everyone put into their hats, and also the amount of talented hat makers we have among us!
In the evening, guests followed the White Rabbit in a conga line back into the pavilion, where they enjoyed a three course gourmet dinner including a table full of macaroons, chocolates and curious potions. Everyone was entertained by amazing acts including ‘The Cheshire Cat’ contortionist, The White Rabbit Arco wheel then finally a performance from Giardino Strings Quartet. To end the night, guests enjoyed a brilliant performance from The Edge Band whilst indulging in donuts and taking selfies at the festival photo pod. Everyone had a joyous time.
