The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have released a draft report rating Voyage Care’s Nottingham Supported Living DCA as Outstanding.
The community support hub supports individuals with learning disabilities and autism in their own homes throughout Nottinghamshire. This new rating takes Voyage Care to a total of 4 Outstanding ratings by CQC and an average of 93% of all registered locations rated as Good or Outstanding.
DCA Manager, Michelle Anstee, was delighted when she heard the news, she said, “This is huge news as we are the first Voyage Care DCA to be awarded with an Outstanding rating.”
Michelle strongly believes the rating is a result of great teamwork and added, “Our new rating is definitely a group effort. I’m not only incredibly proud of my team, but I’m also proud of the people we support and their families. We’ve achieved all of this together.
“One of the inspectors told me that she could tell our supported living services are a true reflection of what community support should be and clearly showcases how the people we support have control and choice when it comes to their support needs.”
The team provide a full range of support to enable people to live the life they want to, including accessing the community, finding somewhere to live, developing their skills to achieve their personal goals and money management.
The draft CQC report highlights the excellent quality of care and support the staff at the DCA provide. It praises how the staff team encourage independence and choice for the people they support, stating, “Staff demonstrated they supported people to have a positive approach to risk taking; people had choice and control of how they lived their life.
The report also shared insights from the people supported by the DCA team, [My support workers] “…do what I want and how I want them to do it. They help me go out, help with the domestic work and the things I find difficult to do.”
