A popular resident of Mundy House is celebrating her 99th birthday with family and friends at a special event held at the care home, which is part of Larchwood Care.
Nora English is the guest of honour at the party, which has been organised by staff at the Basildon-based care home, and which will feature a sing-a-long and a game of skittles.
Nora is being treated to a special party, and will be joined by fellow residents and family, including her daughter Gill.
Nora was married to her husband Archie, and after he passed away she met Tom, who she was with for ten years. Nora has six children, four daughters called Gill, Beryl, Mandy and Molly, and two sons, Keith and Roger.
She is a keen participant in the home’s activities, and likes to have her toy dog Pippy with her for comfort. She enjoys being out in nature and around animals, and used to like knitting and gardening.
Nora has been a resident at Mundy House since 2012, and celebrates with her friends and family every year. She has told the care staff at the home that she looks forward to her next birthday party, when she will receive a telegram from the Queen.
Josi George, Home Manager at Mundy House, said: “Nora is a lovely resident and we are delighted to celebrate her special day in style. She is very popular with staff and her fellow residents, and we all know her well and think she’s fabulous.
“We are looking forward to hosting further community events and celebrations at Mundy House, and would like to wish Nora all the very best on her 99th birthday.”
Speaking about the home, Nora’s daughter Gill said: “My mother has been at Mundy House for 6 years. In my opinion, her longevity of life is a direct result of the care and comfort she receives from the staff. They do a great job and I know she is safe with them.”
