After winning a swathe of awards for providing exceptional care in 2017, the last two months have seen HC-One team members achieve national acclaim after wins at various national awards along with further nominations at each.
As well as colleagues’ individual success, HC-One was also a finalist for the Care Home Group of the Year Award at the National Care Awards.
The awards included:
Grandmother Julie Noble, who was awarded Nurse of the Year at the National Care Awards, following her exceptional work at Jack Dormand Care Home, in Peterlee, County Durham after claiming the same title at the HC-One of a Kind Awards this time last year.
The HC-One team at Richmond House in Leigh, Greater Manchester, who received the End of Life Team Award at the Caring UK Awards. This comes after every member of staff at the home attended a 12-week training programme in end of life care, with many having further training on top. Richmond House also hosts a weekly training session, enabling other Wigan based colleagues to attend end of life care training – thereby replicating and spreading vital best practice. And;
Senior Care Home Manager Robert Murray – winner of the Leader of the Year Award after 17 years at Greenfield Park Care Home, in Carntyne, Glasgow. With a lifelong passion for care, Robert started at Greenfield Park working 6-hours a week as a Care Assistant. He soon realised that he wanted to become a full-time carer and enrolled in HC-One’s nurse training programme to become a staff nurse, and worked tirelessly over the years with the help of the company to reach Senior Home Manager level.
In addition to the outright winners, Riverside View Care Home in Dundee was also celebrating the achievements of its Bluebell Unit, an Intermediate Care and Social Needs Assessment service, and Nursing Assistant Olga Jankovska, after their shortlisting at the Scottish Care Awards and National Care Awards respectively.
This vast array of talent and commitment across the HC-One team is testament to the training and investment that HC-One places on all colleagues at all levels. HC-One is proud to provide sector-leading learning and development programmes, and the company was delighted to receive Skills for Care ‘Centre for Excellence’ Status for their People Development Programmes, one of only six others in the country.

Along with the string of award successes, the prestigious ‘Silver’ Investors in People (IiP) status was bestowed upon 33 homes within the HC-One family in December, placing HC-One among the top 5% of global organisations to receive this recognition. Since 1991, IiP has set the standard for better people management, and their report into HC-One highlights the Company’s strong focus on the empowerment of staff to deliver on their ambitions, with 88% of staff surveyed agreeing that they felt empowered within the Company.
