A 98-year old woman has seen her health and well-being transformed, thanks to the care and support received from live-in care provider Promedica24.

Elizabeth Wood celebrated her 98th birthday recently and is enjoying her second year of receiving care at home with Promedica24 carers.

Following a previous fall, Elizabeth originally required respite care and moved into a residential home. Unfortunately, even though her injury healed, her health deteriorated.

Michael Maule, Elizabeth’s son told us: “My mother required respite care but she did not enjoy being in the residential home. She missed her own home and her well-being needs were not being met, she lacked motivation.”

As a next step, the local authority recommended a number of home care providers, one of which was national live-in care provider Promedica24. Elizabeth and her son were introduced to Promedica24 and two carers were matched to her needs and interests.

Two years on and Mrs Wood has formed a strong bond with her two carers, who provide mobility support, help around the home and companionship, rotating on a six-weekly basis.

The carers also support Elizabeth and Michael with the weekly shopping, as well as visits to medical appointments.

Michael added: “Mum’s transformation is so lovely to see. She enjoys having two carers who keep her entertained and motivated. They often watch TV together and she is also getting help with using a Kindle!

“Her love of food has given her the inspiration to teach new recipes to her carers, and they often discuss the menu together working out the shopping list needed.

“We have a very large extended family and my mum has over 20 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Nothing gives her more pleasure than when they come over to visit her at home.”
