Home care provider MyLife Living Assistance has won CQC approval to launch a nurse-led homecare business serving Canterbury.
The company already provides home care in the local area and recently received an ‘Outstanding’ rating for caring in its latest CQC report.
It will now be adding high quality, bespoke complex healthcare to its portfolio through its new division MyLife Specialist Care. Services range from one-hour visits to comprehensive 24-hour care covering the areas from Canterbury to Folkestone and surrounding towns and villages.
MyLife Specialist Care has two seasoned, experienced health experts at its heart, Sue Smart and Liz Perkins. Clinical Lead Sue worked in A & E and intensive care for 20 years before spending the last 10 years focusing on health and social care in the community. Liz is the Clinical Nurse Specialist, she has been a Registered Nurse for 17 years working both with adults and in a neonatal unit before entering specialist care at home.
Andrea Morgan, Business Development Director at MyLife Specialist Care, says “We’re delighted to offer these new specialist services in the Canterbury area. Having worked for many years providing home care locally we know that a great many people wish to stay in the comfort of their own homes.
“This new service will enable clients to receive specialist treatment in familiar surroundings, while their loved ones can have peace of mind that they are being cared for by experienced and compassionate healthcare practitioners.
“Our hope is that MyLife Specialist Care will also alleviate the strain on local nursing, hospital and GPs services.”
The NHS currently spends £900 million per year on hospital beds for patients who are well enough to go home but do not have adequate support in their home. This issue of ‘bed blocking’ was acknowledged in the NHS Mandate for the coming year. It promises to reduce bed-blocking by 3.5 per cent – the equivalent of releasing 2,000 extra beds a day.
Sally, the wife of a MyLife client, comments: “My husband was in hospital and I was told to put him in a care home as he didn’t have long to live. Without MyLife I would never have got him home where he belongs and now thrives.”
MyLife Specialist Care’s treatments include:
• specialist neurological care
• post-injury and post-operative care
• rapid response and health monitoring
• children and young person’s complex care
• learning disabilities
• palliative care and end of life care
• home from hospital
• respite care
• 24-hour support.
