The Healthcare Homes Group, which provides residential, nursing and homecare services across East Anglia and the South of England, has announced the appointment of Gordon Cochrane as Chief Executive Officer. Gordon, who originally joined Healthcare Homes in October 2016 as Commercial Director, assumes overall responsibility for the group, including Finance, Business Development, HR, Quality, Clinical Governance and Operations.
Gordon, who is a chartered accountant by profession, initially started in the health and social care sector in 2001 as Financial Director for a national care operator, having previously worked with Ernst & Young. He has a proven track record in delivering sustained growth and is focused on supporting Healthcare Homes’ founders in integrating both organic and acquisition-based development opportunities into the existing portfolio.
In support of Gordon, industry expert Helen Gidlow has joined the team in the newly formed role of Group Chief Operating Officer. Helen, who is a qualified registered nurse, has many years operational experience in the industry most recently having responsibility for a division of 65 homes with Barchester Healthcare. Helen will deliver strategic operational and quality assurance support to the group, as it continues on its journey of development and growth.
An internal promotion for Matt King sees him assume the role of Group Financial Director. Previously Group Financial Controller, Matt has worked for the business for over eight years, where he manages a finance team of 15 people located at the group’s central office in Ardleigh, Colchester.
In addition to Gordon, Helen and Matt, the Group Senior Management Team includes Sam Dixon, HR Director, Maggie McDow, Director of Clinical Governance, and Janice King, Operations Director (Homecare).
Talking about his appointment as CEO, Gordon Cochrane said: “In my new capacity, I very much look forward to working with my refreshed senior management team in delivering a high quality, consistent end-to-end care service, within our existing homes and homecare branch locations.
“I also relish the opportunity in supporting the Group’s founders, David Bates and Graham Lomer, for whom I have a great deal of respect, in integrating both organic and appropriate acquisition-based growth opportunities into our established business model.”
David Bates, Co-Founder of Healthcare Homes said: “Myself and co-founder Graham Lomer have known Gordon Cochrane for many years and we are confident that under his stewardship and leadership, the Healthcare Homes Group will be in good hands as we continue our journey of development and growth, whilst retaining our core values. As CEO, Gordon is 100% focused on maintaining the quality and delivery of our existing residential and home care services, therefore enabling Graham and I to now fully concentrate on pursuing future growth opportunities for the business as a whole.
“As the directors and original founders, we are very proud of what the Healthcare Homes Group has achieved to date. We now look forward to working with Gordon and his team in continuing to deliver quality services that operate at either end of the ‘care continuum’ and in between; from supporting those who require care packages within their own homes, to specialist dementia services, right the way through to those requiring full time nursing or palliative care.”
