She was recently announced as Care Assistant of the Year for the Gravesend & Dartford area following asking customers who they feel should receive the award which recognizes excellence in care. The award was presented by Cllr Greta Goatley, Mayor of Gravesham at a special afternoon tea on 28th February at Gravesend Library.
Cllr Greta Goatley explained:
“The caring profession is a very dedicated one and hard profession and I think you have to be a special kind of person to do it.
I have had a personal experience of caring for a family member and there comes a time when you can’t for a number of reasons. Well done to Melita!”
Following Bluebird Care’s Every Visit Counts Campaign which raised awareness of the importance of the role of Care Assistants in combatting loneliness, the award is a great achievement and creates an opportunity to celebrate and recognize excellence in care and highlight the importance of all those in a caring role.
Melita explained that:
“I chose to work in care because I enjoy helping people and have done since I was small! It is a joy to make a real change to someone’s life and see how people develop over time with my help and support.
I want to say thank you for nominating me Care Assistant of the year!! It was such a nice surprise and I am so grateful. I take great pride in my work and the recognition is truly appreciated. Thanks again for the kind words and award!”
Tanya Rhodes, Care Manager explained that:
“All our staff do a fantastic job and it is very hard to nominate any one in particular. As well as receiving the majority of nominations from customers, Melita’s dedication to her role makes her an extremely valued member of the team.
To see so many of our Care Assistants at the award event reflects how great our team is in working together and supporting each other to make sure we go that extra step in supporting our customers.”
