Knowle Park care home in Cranleigh, Surrey, has been praised in its latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection report for its’ compassionate and respectful staff. The home was rated as providing a ‘good’ care service in all areas in the inspection and staff were seen to demonstrate best practice in their approach to care, treatment and support.
Part of the Caring Homes Group, Knowle Park provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 46 residents; it was given a ‘good’ overall rating for providing a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led care service in the inspection which took place in January.
The CQC report praised Knowle Park in its overall summary, and noted that residents felt well cared for and safe. There were good daily activities and the food was nutritious and generally well received. One relative said: “Staff know what my relative can eat. If mum doesn’t want anything on the menu we can ask for some fish or an omelette and they will do it.”
The report continues adding that staff were knowledgeable about residents and their past histories. Relatives are encouraged to be involved and help residents to make choices about their care. One person said: “It’s a privilege to be at this place, a lovely place.” Another commented “Staff are lovely. They are friendly and helpful.”
To find out about people’s experience of living at the home inspectors spoke with ten residents and three relatives, sitting and engaging with them. They also observed how staff cared for people and worked together as a team, and spoke with nine staff and the registered care home manager.

“All members of the team throughout the home were observed during the inspection and were seen to treat our residents with kindness and dignity at all times. All of our team members, residents and families work well together to support each other and it is very pleasing to see that our service has been rated as good by the CQC in every category.”
