The Burnham Nursing & Care Home opened its doors on Friday 20th January for an Open Day to celebrate the completion of the first phase of an ongoing investment and refurbishment plan. Owners of the Burnham Nursing & Care home are investing over £1m in a long term refurbishment project and launching a rigorous action plan to bring the home up to the high standard in place across the Country Court Care Group.
Cllr Michael Clarke, Mayor of Burnham-on-Sea joined the Home Manager, Ken Bishop, and Country Court Care Managing Director Alykhan Kachra to welcome visitors to the home. “We were delighted with the Open Day” said Ken “My team and I were happy to show over sixty visitors the many positive changes at our home”.
The luxury refurbishment of the second floor, known as ‘The Rookery’ was shown off to the public, families, local dignitaries and health care professionals. The residential floor features seventeen luxury bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, new lounge and new dining area.
The refurbishment is part of a rolling upgrade programme at the home that will eventually see a new roof, refurbishment of all floors and upgrade to the outside areas. Previously a school and home for retired nuns from the La Retraite order, the building was thoughtfully converted to a care home in 1990 by previous owners.
