Bipin Patel, Managing Director of South Croydon home care company Caremark recently met with The Secretary of State for Health, the Rt. Hon Jeremy Hunt M.P. at a business dinner in the RAC Club, Pall Mall, London.
The dinner was organized by the Croydon Business Club of which Bipin Patel is a member.
The huge pressures facing the social care sector and in particular the pressures experienced by home care providers was the main topic of conversation.
Increasing costs for the care companies together with pressure from local authorities to provide quality home care at unaffordable prices is causing real concern, with some care providers declining to take on work from local authorities. With margins so small, some care packages are simply not commercially viable for many businesses.
Following a productive meeting Bipin Patel commented: “Jeremy was very understanding of our current situation, acknowledged the facts and assured all those present that there will be changes which will make it easier for all sectors in the NHS to work with each other to overcome the difficulties.”
The Croydon Business Club meets with different Members of Parliament every quarter to discuss local and national issues of importance, particular those affecting their local communities and businesses.
