In the run-up to Health and Safety Week (20th – 24th June), Barchester Healthcare are delighted that one of their Health and Safety Managers, Fiona Torrie is in the running for an award for her outstanding work in this field.
This good news comes just a month after it was announced that Barchester has once again been awarded a RoSPA Gold Award for Health and Safety.
Fiona Torrie, who formerly worked as a care home manager before moving into a health and safety role in 2015, is up against finalists from a range of industries who have been shortlisted for a Rising Star Award in Health and Safety.
The Rising Star Awards celebrate up-and-coming talent in the profession and the overall winner of the award will be presented with a trophy at the Safety and Health Expo in London on 23rd June.
Fiona was nominated by her team for the impact she has had at Barchester care homes in Scotland and the North of England, where she works, and the astounding pace at which she has progressed within the short time she has worked as a Health and Safety Manager.
Prof Trish Morris-Thompson, Director of Quality and Clinical Governance at Barchester Healthcare said: “This is fantastic news! Reaching the finals of The Rising Star Awards is much-deserved recognition for Fiona, who has gone from strength to strength in her role within the Health and Safety Team. We are all really proud of Fiona and the whole team, who continue to excel in their field.”
