Representatives from CQC undertook an unannounced visit to the home on the 24th and 25th November and the report has come through rating it good for being safe, effective, caring, and a responsive and well-led service.
Located close to local amenities in Grimsby, the home provides care and accommodation for up to 47 older people, some of whom are living with dementia.
The report stated that it “…found the service had a relaxed atmosphere which felt homely”, and that “…people were encouraged to participate in activities and to maintain their independence where possible.”
With many areas of the home refurbished and redecorated, the staff were praised for their good knowledge of people’s needs, for respecting the privacy and dignity of residents and for working hard to encourage and promote the highest possible independence for every individual.
Ratings were given based on observations of the home by the unannounced CQC team and on conversations with staff, residents and their relatives. The report is part of CQC’s new programme of inspections, with all adult social care services being given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.
“It’s a very safe place and staff know how to look after people properly.”
“There is a good team here…the staff are just great.”
“The meals look lovely.”
“I’ve worked here for seven years and wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.”
Tammy Dennis, Home Manager, commented; “We are delighted to have received such a positive report from CQC, and it’s a real testament to the hard work of the team here. We consistently work hard to maintain our service at this level and we take great pride in having this recognised and in receiving this good report.”
