A family-owned Dorset care home which is undergoing a major refurbishment has welcomed a new Head of Care.
Mary-Ann Marsh has joined Colten Care’s Abbey View in Sherborne after 14 years at Yeovil District Hospital, latterly in the Frail Older Persons’ Assessment Service (FOPAS).
A qualified nurse, Mary-Ann said her most recent experience was particularly useful in the context of her new role with Colten Care.
She added: “Abbey View is a lovely home and the staff and residents have been very welcoming.”
The first phase of a major refurbishment programme has now been completed at the Bristol Road home.
The work includes a bigger, more welcoming foyer; a new in-house cafe; an improved hairdressing salon and a brighter dining room.
The next phase is now underway, including the refurbishment of a number of bedrooms and addition of en-suite showers together with new plumbing, electrics and call bell systems.

Home Manager Jo Ellis said: “Everyone is very pleased with the results of the work so far which will help us continue to provide the highest standards of care for our residents and their families.”
Abbey View provides residential, nursing and respite care for up to 55 residents.
It is one of 19 quality care and dementia homes owned and operated by Colten Care in Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.
