The opening of a new care home in Redcar will create around 80 new jobs, including registered nurses, carers, facilities management staff and administrative staff, thanks to support from Yorkshire Bank.
Sand Banks Care Centre is currently being developed by The Prestige Group, which operates a number of homes among other property and construction investments in the UK. Yorkshire Bank has provided a substantial support package to help fund the development of the centre. The finance deal was delivered by Gail Fielding, director of healthcare at Yorkshire Bank and Richard Jackson, relationship manager at the Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Stockton on Tees.
The new care centre will be staffed by workers from the local and surrounding community, and The Prestige Group is also working with businesses in Redcar as part of the supply chain process where possible, providing a welcome boost to the local economy.
Located in a conservation area on the site of the former Stead Memorial Hospital, the luxury care home will open its doors in the summer this year. Featuring 77 beds with en suite access and top quality furnishings, the home will provide residential care, dementia and nursing services for older people.
Other facilities will include lounge areas, spacious dining areas, an enclosed garden, free Wi-Fi, a hairdressing salon, cinema room and a relaxation room.
Raj Singh, managing director for The Prestige Group, said:
“Sand Banks Care Centre’s modern facilities and structured care are designed to enable us to provide tailored services to all residents at all stages of their stay with us. We will see our first residents in the summer and we look forward to serving the community in and around Redcar for the foreseeable future.
“Yorkshire Bank supports our vision and is working in partnership with The Prestige Group to help us achieve our goals.”
Richard Jackson, relationship manager for Yorkshire Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Stockton on Tees, said:
“The Prestige Group has been providing high-quality care for the elderly for more than 20 years and looks set to continue to do so with the opening of the new care home in Redcar.
“It is extremely rewarding to know that through our funding, there will be a real and positive impact for the local community, as well as for the local economy through the creation of a significant number of jobs.
