The team at Lime Court Care Home in Harwich have been celebrating after receiving the news that they have passed their recent accreditation with the Gold Standards Framework (GSF) to achieve a ‘Beacon Status’.
The GSF is a practical systematic, evidence-based approach to optimizing care for all people nearing the end of life, given by front-line care providers. GSF is accredited following in-depth monitoring to ensure team members continue to deliver high quality care, training and quality assurance to the people they support .
In order to achieve a ‘Beacon Status’, team members working in the home must go through a training scheme with the GSF and showcase knowledge and skills relating to end-of-life care. If these team members, then pass the course, the care home in which they work can be accredited and certified in end of life care by the GSF. If a care home can then sustain and evidence continued good practice, they can be considered for ‘gold’ and ‘platinum’ status in future accreditations.
The team at Lime Court Care Home are delighted about this recent achievement, which showcases their continued dedication to providing quality, dignified care to person until the end of their life.
Suzanne, the Home Manager at Lime Court Care Home said this in response to the achievement, “We are so proud to receive a pass for our GSF and achieve a beacon status. End of life care is where, as a care team, we feel we excel and this has provided us with confirmation of that.”
Helen Bennett, Regional Operations Director, Excelcare group in Essex, stated how proud she was that the home had achieved such a brilliant achievement particularly given the additional pressures the pandemic has placed upon care homes.
