Kingsclear Nursing Home resident receive message from Loose Women celebrity

The residents and care team at Kingsclear Nursing Home in Camberley were delighted to receive a message from former Coronation Street and current Loose Women and Hollyoaks star Denise Welch and her two godchildren recently.

Over the course of the current Covid-19 pandemic, Denise has been very vocal both on TV and via social media about her concern for the mental health of those living in care homes.

Denise has faced her own battles with mental health and has documented her journey via social media, giving fans an honest glimpse of what it is like to live with mental health issues. Thankfully, Denise is in a great place right now and starting on Hollyoaks soon.

Denise’s interest in Kingsclear, part of the Caring Homes family of 69 homes across the UK, began when Helen Rooke, Kingsclear Deputy Manager, commented on one of Denise’s tweets about all of the hard work care home staff have put in during the pandemic and how they should be commended like those in the NHS.

From there, Denise began to follow Helen on Twitter and they have had numerous conversations on social media regarding looking after the health and wellbeing of residents during the pandemic and how the staff at Kingsclear have gone the extra mile to support the residents in their care.

Helen said, “When Denise sent me the message I was quite overwhelmed that she had taken the time out of her busy schedule to record a message just to us. I have shared the message with our residents who were also pleased to receive it – especially Maureen who is a massive fan of Loose Women.”

Helen added that several residents have recorded messages back to Denise as did the nursing team. Denise loved receiving them and then offered to visit via Zoom this week.

“Our residents are buzzing with excitement and are planning to talk to Denise about how they have coped with the pandemic, what made them move to Kingsclear and what they do to keep busy,” said Helen.

“Some of our nursing team will also discuss dealing with the pressures of their role during this time.”

Denise hopes to visit Kingsclear in person when guidelines allow to meet our residents and team in person. Of course, we will keep you updated! Watch this space.
