Coventry care home calls for help to celebrate Dorothy’s 103rd birthday


Dorothy Reed, a resident at The Knowles Care Home, Coventry has celebrated her 103rd Birthday.

Dorothy (103) has only one surviving relative who unfortunately could not attend for her special day.


The Knowles who usually celebrates every resident’s birthday with an extravagant party and a special visit from their family wanted to make this birthday extra special for Dorothy. The home reached out to their local community via the Facebook group, Spotted Coventry City.


The response from the community was truly overwhelming and it was answered in enormity with gifts of balloons, cakes, a floral deliveries from Jaguar Land Rover, afternoon tea from Nailcote Hall Hotel and hundreds of cards from all over the world, which were just some of the items sent for Dorothy.


“After being tagged in the post on Facebook I just had to do something for this lady, what an amazing age to celebrate, I am absolutely honored to have played a part in making her day extra special ” said Aleiya Brammer from Up & Away Balloons, Coventry.


“We were very proud to be part of Dorothy’s special day and wish her very many happy returns. We are her family here at the Knowles and today this family just got so much bigger. Thank you to everyone who helped in making Dorothy’s day the special day she deserves” said Hayley, Home Manager at The Knowles Care Home.
