Since opening, the Fazakerley care home has created dozens of local jobs and welcomed 26 residents

Residents and colleagues at Brook View, Exemplar Health Care’s complex needs nursing home in Fazakerley, Liverpool, celebrated the home’s first anniversary last month.

The home’s 26 residents and 130-strong care team celebrated the day with games in the garden, party food and decorated cakes. Care team members who have worked at Brook View since its opening day were awarded with a ‘One Year’ service certificate and special gift.

Exemplar Health Care is a leading provider of specialist nursing care for adults living with a range of complex and high acuity needs. Its community-based homes provide person-centred care and rehabilitation that focus on maximising independence, building everyday living skills and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.

Sharon Mcloughlin, Brook View’s Home Manager, said: “Despite the current climate, it’s been a great year for Brook View. We’re really proud to make every day better by providing a welcoming and supportive environment so that our 26 residents can feel at home, continue to do the things that they enjoy, and remain closer to family and friends.”

In September 2019, Brook View opened its doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Lord Mayor, Anna Rothery. Then, two months later, when the nearby Amberleigh House and Edinburgh Park care homes closed their doors, Brook View recruited seven local care home workers from both homes.

“When the previous care homes shut their doors, staff were devastated,” said Sharon. “They were going to be out of jobs just before Christmas. It means the world to know that we are adding value to the community by creating local jobs and offering a specialist nursing care home for local people who are living with complex health needs.”
