Ideal Carehomes Trainer, Valerie Smith, has raised a whopping £735 pounds after shaving her head in support of her frontline colleagues within care homes. Val, who works closely with staff from five care homes across the North West, wanted to do something special to offer her personal thanks to the teams for continuing to provide residents with the highest standards of care throughout unprecedented times.
Valerie has worked in the care industry for over 30 years and has a wealth of experience within care settings. She now works as a trainer to both new and existing Ideal Carehomes staff: teaching, supporting and mentoring them to be the best they can be through employee training programmes.
Valerie said, ‘Working in the care industry is an incredibly rewarding career. I have met some of the most caring, empathetic and truly inspirational people through my work and to be able to equip them with the tools they need to provided the highest standards of person-centred care brings me great joy’.
‘I wanted to ’brave the shave’ for the care teams I work with, to show them that even though I am unable to join them in the homes at this time whilst our training is taking place on Zoom,, they are in my thoughts and I am incredibly proud of them all for how they have overcome adversities during Covid-19’.
Home Manager of Ash Tree House, Chris Durnan, said, ‘Val is absolutely fantastic, and this was a lovely gesture from her to our staff. To see her ‘brave the shave’ has really boosted morale around the home and we look forward to using the money she has raised to give our team a very special treat!’.
De Brook Lodge, Lifestyle Manager, Danielle Aikenhead said, ‘We are incredibly proud of Val for her generous donation to our home. Val is really bubbly and supportive of our teams and this is just another example of that. I would also like to say a big thank you to all of our residents families and friends who donated to help Val reach and surpass her target!’.
