‘Home Challenges’ campaign launched to help those in lockdown keep busy and have fun

Home Instead Senior Care has launched a campaign, ‘Home Challenges’ to keep people busy and having a bit of fun during lockdown.

Dame Esther Rantzen, Founder of the The Silver Line, the only confidential, free helpline for older people in the UK, is supporting the campaign, and will be announcing a new challenge every week via Home Instead’s social media channels.

Speaking about the campaign, Esther said, “I can’t wait to see people’s entries to Home Challenges.
“We’ve all got to try to have some fun whilst our movements are restricted and that’s what this is all about. If we can raise some funds for The Silver Line in doing so, all the better.”

The first challenge is to share a video or photo of your pet’s hidden talent – from dogs that can roll over and kiss to barking on command or shaking hands.

This particular challenge was inspired by Esther’s days presenting ‘That’s Life!’ where she famously found a dog that said ‘sausages’, much to the nation’s delight at the time.

Martin Jones, CEO of Home Instead commented, “We are hoping that our Home Challenges campaign brings some fun and joy into people’s lives over the next few weeks. All of the challenges can be done in the comfort of your own home with a focus on spreading happiness.

“We are delighted to have Dame Esther Rantzen supporting the campaign, as it is loosely based on off her show, ‘That’s Life!’ where viewers regularly shared humorous poems or, notably, the antics of their talented pets.

“We will be raising money in aid of the Silver Line to support its work helping isolated and lonely people.
