Despite the current pandemic situation and all care homes being on lockdown with nobody able to visit their loved ones, the team at Community Integrated Care’s EachStep Blackburn Care Home were determined to help Harry and Norma Campbell celebrate their 55th Wedding Anniversary!

Harry, who is originally from Glasgow met Norma at a dance he went to by chance in Rochdale in 1962. They started going out together and despite Norma moving to Leicestershire when her parents moved the relationship blossomed and they married in Sacred Heart Church in Leicestershire on 3rd April 1965. Norma wanted to move back to her home town and after having their children, 2 girls and a boy, they moved back to Darwin.

Harry, who served for 40 years with Greater Manchester Police and Norma who worked in sales, training at Selfridges in London, has had a wonderful life together, enjoying their passion for horse riding and Elvis Presley, despite Norma now being in a care home these are wonderful memories that the couple can still share and enjoy together, as well as family memories and their 4 beautiful grandchildren.

Until this current pandemic situation that we are in Harry visited Norma every day to chat. So, like many other family members in the same situation, this is a difficult time for the couple. The home decided, with the use of modern technology to get the couple together to celebrate their special day with a chat and a catch-up via facetime!

Congratulations to you both and hopefully when this is over you can celebrate properly maybe with an Elvis Tribute Act!

Harry Campbell said “It was lovely to be able to see Norma and know that she was safe and well. EachStep Blackburn is a wonderful care home with fantastic staff and I couldn’t be happier that Norma lives there as I know how well she and all the other residents are being cared for, particularly at this difficult time. I would like to thank all the team for all they are doing”.

Victor Phiri, Manager at EachStep Blackburn Care Home said.
