Residents of Dene Holm Residential Care Home in Northfleet were overwhelmed to receive so many letters and drawings from the local community.
With visits on hold, for the time being, staff of the Northfleet residential care home have been encouraging local children to write to residents and lift their spirits during the Coronavirus crisis, and they’ve been overwhelmed with the response.
Local children have been sending paintings, poems, letters and messages of positivity, as well as some gifts, to bring a smile to the residents’ faces during a time of uncertainty.
Christine Hutchinson, General Manager of Dene Holm said: “Letters are a bit of a thing of the past and some residents haven’t received one for years, so you can imagine that it was really lovely when so much post dropped through the letterbox.
“The residents really enjoyed reading through it all and looking at the bright pictures that children had drawn for them. The engagement is great for the residents’ wellbeing and it is such a kind and touching gesture. We’d just like to say thank you to anyone who sent something into us, it would be great to keep this going as the difficult times continue.”
