It’s a very small world

It’s a small world as a retired Play school teacher, Valerie Jones (aged 84) catches up with a former pupil working at the care home where she now lives.

Karen Middleton, Chetwynd House’s Lifestyle & Dementia Manager attended the Wollaton Play School on Humberston Road which was set up by Valerie and husband John at their home in the 1970’s.

“I recognised Mrs Jones instantly! It was wonderful to see her again and to catch up with her husband John, reliving some of those happy days. It’s been a pleasure to listen to him talk about their lives which have always been filled with children, from the nursery school to fostering!” said Karen who as part of her role ensures residents continue to live a life filled with meaning and purpose in the way they choose to.

“Valerie was so caring with all the children we looked after. I remember how well she enjoyed playing piano and singing with them. It’s been wonderful for her to see Karen,” added John Jones.
