Staff and a resident from Mill Lane Nursing Home in Felixstowe, Suffolk, spent a day celebrating ‘the Swinging 60s’ by taking part in this year’s town carnival.
On Saturday 27th July, a group from the home donned their 1960’s fancy dress to join in the annual procession, travelling through the town and along to the seafront, cheered on by hundreds of spectators.
This was the first time in many years that the home has taken part in the much-loved event, and Manager John, with team members Kate, Rachel, James and Kevin took along resident Margaret with a relative to celebrate the day.
The home’s mini bus with decorated with flowers and bunting to celebrate ‘flower power’ and the group dressed up as part of this year’s theme ‘decades of the 20th century’.
Home Manager John Savage confirmed, “It was great to participate in the carnival, which is such a popular part of the calendar here in Felixstowe, being something the whole town gets together to enjoy.
“There was a wonderful carnival atmosphere, the streets were lined with so many people and we enjoyed making friends and seeing a few familiar faces. Margaret had a wonderful day out and it was lovely to be part of the community spirit at Felixstowe.”
